Introducing Pivot Press: COMIT’S publishing imprint
COMIT is delighted to announce the launch of its publishing imprint, Pivot Press.
After years of cultivating a global community of research and dialogue, COMIT created Pivot Press to give these insights durable form—books that sustain and advance a research program built around the principle of human oneness.
Pivot Press volumes emerge from sustained dialogue. We bring scholars, practitioners, and engaged communities into collaborative inquiry, forging understanding through exchange rather than compilation. The essays and curated conversations we publish capture minds meeting across disciplines—documenting both conclusions and the processes that produced them. The work of creating a book together deepens collective insight; each volume becomes both artifact and invitation.
Pivot Press is led by Editors-in-Chief Shahrzad Sabet and Benjamin Schewel, who COMIT's Co-Directors, along with COMIT's Associate Director, Shayda Sabet-Hatami, serving as Managing Editor.
Intellectual Community. In Print.
The great publishing ventures of the early modern period—the journals and presses that sustained the Republic of Letters—arose as infrastructure for intellectual community. They made possible the exchanges through which a growing network of inquirers refined ideas together. Pivot Press recovers this original logic. Our tagline—Intellectual Community. In Print.—describes our method
Our visual identity draws from Viennese modernism—a sensibility born at the peak of a certain civilizational order, rich with achievement yet shadowed by presentiment of what was to come. That tension between possibility and threshold feels apt for the work we're undertaking.
Ideas that belong to everyone
All Pivot Press publications are freely available as open-access PDFs under Creative Commons licensing. For those who value physical books, we offer carefully designed print editions—but the ideas themselves belong to everyone.
